Project United Knowledge, also known as Project UK, will offer CO.STARTERS, a nationally renowned
platform that helps communities grow local businesses in October 2017. The nine-week program equips
entrepreneurs with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn business ideas into action. Unlike traditional platforms, CO.STARTERS applies the lean business modeling methods popular among high-growth startups.

Our curriculum focuses on helping you with your startup or business ideas. Although established businesses can still benefit from CO.STARTERS process, to test their idea. It is important to know which
stage you are on within your business.



CO.STARTERS is led by a facilitator, an experienced entrepreneur well connected in
Kansas City’s business community, who will introduce you to action-driven concepts
that you will be able to apply to your business or project. This is an interactive
program that will help you fine-tune your business. CO.STARTERS is based around
the Canvas below that is a visual map to help guide your ideas.

The CO.STARTERS program has been adopted by more than a dozen entrepreneurial organizations in cities
around the country, including Phoenix; Cincinnati; Nashville, Tenn; Lakeland, Fla.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and
Chattanooga, TN..

How does it work?

Each week a guest speaker who is a successful entrepreneur will tell about their experiences that is related to each weeks topic. Aside from a speaker, participants will work with a business leader within the community. Learners will strive to test their ideas each week for feedback from the community. Based on feedback, participants will have the opportunity to update and validate their assumptions.


Classes will be held nightly once a week. Interactivity with other participants and listening to others will be encouraged in order to grow. You’ll leave the program with a deep understanding of how to create a viable business, and how to repeat that process with your next great idea.

2017 Facilitators

Nicola has worked at Fortune 500 companies including H&R Bloch and State Street, local non-profits. She is a member of the Missouri Society of Accountants, a chapter of the National Society of Accountants, and has earned distinctions for an enrolled agent and
Quickbooks ProAdvisor. Currently, she works as an accountant.

Price was born and raised in the greater Kansas City area. She knew in high school that she wanted a career as an accountant. She earned her associate’s degree from MCC, followed by a semester of classes at UMKC to finish my accounting degree at DeVry/Keller University. During that time Nicola worked short-term assignments in the accounting department at various organizations.

“I come from a lineage of public school educators. Though, I was not interested in teaching I always
had an urge to share information with and coach others. I have found that I was able to match my
training and experience in accountancy with teaching by helping small business owners understand the
financial complexities of operating a business. Serving others in the community is very fulfilling and this
calling predates me, as the origins of my name suggests.”

Matt is currently the Director or Operations at The Hope Center (THC), Inc. a comprehensive community development organization located in the heart of KC.  He ensures operations run smoothly, maintains fiduciary integrity and catalyzes real estate and economic development initiatives.  He has been working in community development for the past ten years in Denver, CO, and KC, MO.  He is also an entrepreneur, a football aficionado. Matt received his bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary.  He and his wife, Jenna, have been married for nine years and have two young boys. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his family, meals with friends, neighborhood walks and runs, and immediate access to the best BBQ in America.  He also serves on several community boards and in various volunteer roles throughout the KC community.
